A Sense of Home

Mission

A Sense of Home (ASOH) prevents homelessness by creating first-ever homes for youth aging out of foster care in Los Angeles. Through home creation, community support, and ongoing resources, ASOH empowers young adults to build stable, successful lives.

What They Do

Home Creations: In just 90 minutes, 12–25 volunteers transform empty spaces into fully furnished, warm homes using 330+ donated items.

Housing Support: Helps youth secure stable housing through partner properties.

Life Support Services:

•  Educational scholarships

•  Financial literacy and life skills training

•  Job placement and referrals

•  Community engagement via the Pay-It-Forward Alumni (PIFA) network

How You Can Help

Sponsor a Home Creation

•  Volunteer with a group to furnish and decorate a home (Thu–Sat, up to 25 people)

•  Suggested donation: $8,000

Donate Furniture

•  Gently used/new home furnishings and decor

•  Drop-off by appointment or shop from the Amazon Wish List

Donate Funds

•  100% tax-deductible contributions of any size

•  Help provide long-term stability and resources 

Volunteer

•  Help build furniture, organize donations, and assemble kits at the warehouse

•  Tue–Sat, 9am–4pm (2-hour minimum; group donations encouraged)
